Two Parishes Honored as 'Witnesses to Hope’ The highest honor presented during the annual Light of Faith program is the Witness to Hope award, which recognizes a parish that has excelled in the area of communications and evangelization over the past year.
Communicators, Students Honored at Light of Faith Awards With the simple gesture of lighting a votive candle, Catholic communicators and students from across the Diocese of Orlando demonstrated how they were bringing the Light of Christ into the world at a prayer service and awards ceremony held at St. James Cathedral April 23 as part of the third annual Light of Faith event.
Leaders Receive Training on Communication Topics The Vatican sets aside one day each year to focus on the communications ministry of the Church, which is known as World Communications Day.

Bishops of Florida Strongly Support Amendment 6 to Protect Taxpayers and Support Parental Rights

Prohibits Public Funds for Abortion
Amendment 6 prohibits the use of public funds for abortions or health care coverage that would include abortions.

Strengthens Parental Rights
Amendment 6 would strengthen parental rights by allowing future legislation to require parental consent for children seeking an abortion.

Aligns Abortion Funding Laws
Amendment 6 puts in place the same limits for Florida as current Federal law regarding the use of public funds for abortion.

Community outreach ministry is 'in fashion'

Using nearly $1 million raised in Alive in Christ funds, St. Matthew Catholic Church, Winter Haven, expanded its community outreach ministry two years ago by leasing a former Publix store for the Regenerations resale shop. The parish's youth ministry recently hosted a fashion show event for teens to purchase donated prom dresses for $10, with all of the proceeds going back into the Alive in Christ Campaign.
